As Casinhas da Terra is a small real estate agency, established in June 2014, with its head office in the village of Barril, near São Julião Beach.

Mafra will also be another of our main areas of focus, not only because it is the seat of our municipality but also for its magnificent Palace, which was classified as a "National Monument" and was declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO in 2019.

Brief history of our municipality and its location.

This locality, the seat of the municipality, is located on the outskirts of Lisbon, in the so-called "saloia" region, which used to supply the capital with vegetables. It is best known for the imposing Palácio-convento (Palace-monastery).

Construction of the building began in 1717, with an initial design that was quite modest. However, after hiring the German architect Ludovice, the project underwent significant changes.

Thus, this grand monument was built (which, in addition to the convent for 300 friars, includes a basilica and a royal palace with 666 rooms), annexed to the convent, the Mafra Royal Hunting Reserve, where wild boar, deer, and fallow deer roam. It is a protected area acquired by King João V in the mid-18th century to enhance the building's surroundings. It was used as a hunting reserve and is currently open to the public.

Mafra is a safe city (the 3rd safest municipality in Portugal), peaceful, with 11 kilometers of coastline and a total of 13 beaches.

Ericeira

A traditional fishing village, Ericeira is a tourist town located 35 km northwest of Lisbon, 18 km from Sintra, and 8 km from Mafra. Ericeira has developed significantly in recent years due to the growing demand as a holiday destination.

The village benefits from its proximity to the city of Lisbon and also from the construction of the A21 highway, making it the perfect place for holidays and weekends for thousands of people living in the capital and surrounding areas.

As the only World Surfing Reserve in Europe and the third in the world, the parish is internationally known for its ideal conditions for surfing and bodyboarding.

Ericeira boasts excellent restaurants of all types, though primarily focused on fish and seafood.

The supply of tourist accommodations has increased dramatically, with the opening of hotels, hostels, and local accommodations. With a lively nightlife, Ericeira deserves a prominent spot in the West Zone.
